Who are we?
The Annerley Church of Christ began on Ipswich Road, Annerley, in February 1913 as a Bible school. A church congregation formed in February 1914 and met at the Walker Memorial Hall. In 1919 the land on Annerley Road was purchased with the Mount Vernor church building transferred to the site.
To this day, this community continues to meet at the same site and building, maintaining its heritage of hospitality and openness to all people, and with the mission for people to know Jesus personally.
When do we meet?
Gatherings are held at 459 Annerley Road, Annerley with a 10.00am start on Sunday mornings. The Lord’s supper is shared weekly, as is singing together and reflection over the Word.
The service is followed by coffee, opportunities for catch ups (including lunch), non-faith- as well as faith-related conversations, and prayer.
On-site and street parking is available.
Same same but different…
There is one community that meets together on a Sunday morning at 10am, and from within there are two distinct heritages and traditions. Those two traditions are Annerley Church of Christ with over 100 years of history in the Annerley community and City South Presbyterian Church which started as a campus church in 2014 at South Brisbane. While it may seem a little odd that two distinctively different denominations meet together for one service and to share one community, it is the hope of this community that the central faith in Jesus Christ is what binds them together.
Jesus said
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35
Therefore, whatever your heritage, you are invited to join a community of believers here from all walks who are working out their faith in Jesus Christ.
